Shavuot Sundae Board

Cheesecake tends to dominate the Shavuot dessert conversation. Respectfully, I’d like to add something to the table: a giant ice cream sundae board. It is delicious, and it will also immediately claim roughly 80% of the available surface area on said table, leaving the cheesecake baker to wonder where exactly their cheesecake is supposed to go.

Surface area is half the battle when it comes to potluck victories.

There’s no real tutorial here—just pile your toppings onto a large platter, shift things around until it looks abundant, and invite everyone to build their dream sundae. (This probably goes without saying but you’ll want a few pints of ice cream nearby; I like to stash them in a big ice bucket.)

I’m especially fond of the slightly retro touch of peanuts in shells, and kiwi adds such a cheerful, unexpected pop of green. Beyond that, anything goes: strawberries, sprinkles, banana slices, chocolate chips, pretzels, cookies, brownie bites, fresh fruit, mini marshmallows, caramel and chocolate sauce, maraschino cherries, mini peanut butter cups, Oreos, fresh whipped cream…!
