Hanukkah Candy Board(s!)

Hanukkah doesn’t (necessarily) call for elaborate baking projects, but it does benefit from something festive and a little nostalgic, like…a blue-and-white candy board! I’ve made some version of this nearly every year (two examples are shown on this page), and I’m sharing my general framework below: a curated mix of sweets in a limited palette, arranged to feel abundant but not messy. It’s the kind of thing that can live on the table/kitchen island all evening as people light and linger.

Start with the right board!

Choose something flat and neutral so the candy can do the talking. Marble, light wood, or a simple white surface all work beautifully. The flatter the surface, the easier it is to create neat clusters that feel intentional.

Pick a tight color palette.

Let blue lead, with whites and metallics as accents. Blue candies (of course!), white chocolate, marshmallows, yogurt-covered nuts, and so on. Finish with a few metallic notes—silver or gold gelt, chocolate kisses, etc.

Use bowls for structure.

Not always needed, but a nice way to house loose or messy candies (think M&Ms). I like that this can also instantly give the board shape and keep things from feeling scattered. Or literally scattering.

Rearrange. And re-rearrange.

The thing about boards like these is…they never look great at first. But don’t give up! Move things around and around. I promise, you’ll land somewhere lovely eventually.
