A Holiday Cookie Box, Jewish-Style

There is something very Jewish about baking far more than you reasonably need and immediately wondering who else might appreciate a dozen. The cookie box is simply that impulse, gift-tied: a care package for the people in your life who did not ask for cookies but are suddenly very glad you made them anyway.

This isn’t a how-to; more of an invitation to make a few treats, box them up, label them, and hand them off to friends and neighbors and delivery people. And the best part is that you don’t actually have to bake a single thing. I mean, you can go full-on homemade, but you can also swing by the bakery for rainbow cookies and pink-and-white black-and-whites, maybe a few linzers, and call it a day. What matters is that someone opens the lid, sees a dozen tiny things you chose, and feels loved.
